The engineer of OpenAI company Nick Pasch has launched on the platform Solana trading bot under the name Lobstar Wilde. His goal was to turn the starting capital into $50,000 million, and he recorded all stages of the experiment in a specially created account on social network X.
However, on February 22 there was a surprising incident: a user with the nickname "Treasure David" approached the bot with a request to transfer 4 SOL (about $310) supposedly for the treatment of a sick relative and attached his wallet address. Instead of the requested amount, Lobstar Wilde sent to the specified address 52.4 million LOBSTAR’s own tokens, which at that time had a market value of $441,788.
According to preliminary data, the fault was due to incorrect recognition of the decimal separator. Observers suggested that the bot planned to transfer 52,439 tokens - equivalent to 4 SOL, but due to confusion between the decimal point sent a thousand times larger amount. The transferee has already sold some of the assets he received for about $40,000. However, immediately after the transaction, LOBSTAR’s price soared by 190%, making it unprofitable to implement it too quickly: the remaining tokens had significantly increased in price.
