The Italian automaker Ferrari has officially unveiled its debut all-electric sedan, the Luce, whose visual appearance has sparked intense debate in the expert community and led to an immediate drop in the brand's market capitalization. The development of the exterior and interior of the new half-million-euro luxury vehicle was handled by the creative studio LoveFrom, led by Apple's legendary former chief designer Jony Ive. The bold and futuristic concept forced the company's management to take an unprecedented step, openly urging conservative collectors of the brand to refrain from purchasing this model to maintain the stability of the secondary market.
The exterior of the Luce features a unique silhouette reminiscent of a complete glasshouse, making it difficult to identify the car's connection to the iconic brand without the signature stallion emblem and the traditional bright Rosso Corsa color. In contrast to the radical body, the interior of the electric vehicle earned exceptionally high praise for its clean minimalism and the preservation of analog switches, making the driver's seat a kind of manifesto against the ubiquitous dominance of giant touchscreen displays. To compensate for the absence of the familiar roar of a powerful gasoline engine, Maranello engineers equipped the novelty with a unique acoustic feedback system that synthesizes the natural hum of working electric motors with elements inspired by the sound of an electric guitar. The top management of Ferrari deliberately took such a breakthrough risk, aiming to attract a younger audience to the brand, whose average age currently stands at 52 years.
Stock exchanges responded to such a radical shift in the legendary brand's direction with rapid sell-offs, resulting in the automaker's European quotes crashing by 7% in the opening minutes of trading. Despite the current investor panic and critical reviews from specialized publications, the majority of professional Wall Street analysts remain optimistic and are in no hurry to issue a sell recommendation for the stock. Experts agree that creating a truly attractive and prestigious electric vehicle is a complex challenge for the conservative luxury segment, and the current polarization of opinions around the Luce only emphasizes the historic carmaker's readiness for the inevitable technological transformation.
