American spot Bitcoin exchange‑traded funds recorded a net inflow of $517.1 million, according to data from the SoSoValue platform for Wednesday, August 19. Investors have begun to return to cryptocurrency investment products after a sharp start to Bitcoin’s growth. Eight out of twelve spot funds tied to Bitcoin showed positive inflows. The leader was the iShares Bitcoin Trust fund, managed by BlackRock, with a net inflow of $284.7 million; it was followed by the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF fund, managed by Ark Invest and 21Shares, with $77.7 million, and the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund, managed by Fidelity, with $62.4 million.

The total capital inflow into Bitcoin funds on August 19 was the highest daily inflow since May 4. This development looks particularly positive after U.S. spot Bitcoin funds lost approximately $390 million during the previous trading week, with the largest outflow of funds coming from Fidelity and Grayscale funds. The increase in demand from large investors for exchange‑traded Bitcoin funds coincided with a sharp rally in the cryptocurrency market. On Wednesday, Bitcoin rose above $69,000 for the first time in two months, and Ethereum crossed the $2,000 mark. Shares of companies related to cryptocurrencies also rose, as investors’ appetite for high‑risk assets intensified.

One of the main catalysts for the growth of the cryptocurrency market was the announcement by the United States Department of the Treasury that the volume of purchases of long‑term Treasury bonds under the government’s liquidity support program would be doubled. Starting from September 9, the maximum volume of operations for the repurchase of government debt securities with a maturity period of ten to thirty years should increase from two billion to at least four billion dollars per transaction. Investor sentiment may have improved also thanks to the rules for issuing cryptoassets proposed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The regulator presented two options for exempting cryptocurrency issuers from mandatory registration. The first option is a one‑time exception that will allow companies to raise up to five million dollars over a period of four years. The second option enables issuers to collect up to seventy‑five million dollars from investors every twelve months.
