The US authorities' blocking of foreign citizens' access to the latest Anthropic models (Fable 5 and Mythos 5) confirmed the critical importance of decentralized artificial intelligence. This was stated by the head of Grayscale’s research department, Zak Pandel. According to him, the incident exposed the risks of centralized control, when businesses are forced to "rent intelligence" to a narrow circle of laboratories that can at any time limit access to services without explanation.

Pandel expressed confidence that, amid regulatory pressures, investors would continue to scale up investments in decentralized solutions such as Bittensor, which he called "the bitcoin in the AI world." The project provides access to computing resources through an open global network without intermediaries. The market reacted to the news instantly: within 12 hours of being blocked, Anthropic’s native Bittensor (TAO) token had increased in price by 30%.

Co-founder of EdgeRunner AI Colton Malkerson also emphasized that business now "leases intelligence" from large laboratories, and platform owners can restrict access at any time without explanation. Recall that earlier in June, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei called on the US to tighten AI regulations and introduce mandatory safety checks for high-powered models.
