On June 22, the L2-network team of Taiko confirmed the compromise of the mechanism for checking the state of the blockchain. Developers warned that the security of all bridges deployed in the network can no longer be considered reliable, and urged users to withdraw funds from all bridge protocols as soon as possible. The project is coordinating with the safety board and ecosystem partners to localize the incident, and has requested centralized exchanges to suspend TAIKO deposits until official notification.

According to analysts Lookonchain, the damage from the attack amounted to about $1.7 million. The hacker stole the native TAIKO tokens and various "wrapped" ETFs. Analysts reported that the attacker has already deposited 1.99M TKO (about $189K) on the MEXC exchange and is still holding 870.8 ETH (about $52M). After the coin’s attack, TAIKO billed 11% per day, falling from $0.09 to $0.07.

This incident was another in a series of recent attacks on cross-channel infrastructure. Just three days earlier, on June 19, the Axelar blockchain project reported a breach of its Secret Network bridge, where an attacker exploited the "infinite mintlet" vulnerability and withdrew about $4.67 million.
