The Chinese space industry has continued to develop orbital Internet infrastructure: a "Changcheng-2D" rocket was launched from the Sichuan Province Shishan launch site, successfully launching a new technology satellite. It is noteworthy that this launch became the 646th in number for the "Changcheng" rocket family.

The key task of the new apparatus is to test innovative communication systems of the next generation. During the mission, engineers will have to test the possibility of direct access of mobile devices to broadband Internet via spacecraft and also assess the effectiveness of creating a unified telecommunication circuit that seamlessly connects ground and orbital segments of networks.
