At the end of 2025, the number of counterfeit banknotes in Belarus decreased by almost a third, according to the National Bank of Belarus.

In total, bank employees identified 567 counterfeit currency units, the vast majority of which were banknotes. The majority of counterfeit banknotes were US dollars, with significantly smaller numbers of euros, Russian rubles, and Belarusian rubles.

A decrease in counterfeit banknotes was noted across all major currencies, including the most common denominations. A significant portion of counterfeit banknotes were detected in Minsk, but cases were also reported in other regions of the country.

An analysis of production methods shows that printing technologies and various types of printing are most commonly used, requiring further improvements in methods for detecting and monitoring cash circulation.
