Meta explores Polymarket and Kalshi partnerships for Arena

Meta is exploring possible partnerships with Polymarket and Kalshi as it develops its own prediction app, internally known as Arena, according to Reuters citing The New York Times. Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly asked company executives to evaluate cooperation with both platforms, but the story should be framed carefully: Reuters says it could not independently verify the NYT report, while Meta and Polymarket declined to comment.

Arena would reportedly differ from Polymarket and Kalshi by using game-like points instead of real-money wagers. That distinction matters: prediction markets have grown quickly, but they also face regulatory scrutiny because many contracts look similar to event-based betting. A points system could make the product easier to launch inside Meta’s ecosystem and reduce some legal risks.

Meta is reportedly targeting users aged 18 to 34 and hopes Arena could eventually reach at least 100 million monthly active participants. The app is still in internal testing, and sources warned it may never be released publicly. If development continues, parts of Arena could later be integrated into Facebook and Messenger.

For Meta, this is a bet on a new engagement format. Prediction markets turn news, politics, sports and economic events into interactive forecasts. If Meta succeeds, Arena could become not just a standalone app, but a social layer for real-time public opinion. The risk is regulation: Polymarket and Kalshi have already attracted attention over political markets, insider-trading concerns and gambling rules.
