MoonPay has officially introduced the PayBox service, which is a payment storage and a non-custodial wallet for conducting transactions directly in the interface of the dialogue with artificial intelligence. To use the functionality, the user needs to connect the service to the AI model through a specialized connector on the official website, after which it becomes possible to perform operations without leaving the chat window. At the current stage, integration with ChatGPT and Claude models is available, while support for Gemini and Grok is planned for the next month. The service is compatible with the x402 protocol from the Coinbase exchange and supports a wide range of operations, including booking flights, exchanging crypto assets, staking and online purchases.

A key aspect of the PayBox architecture is the complete isolation of sensitive data from artificial intelligence. According to the developers, the AI agent never gets access to the wallet's private keys, bank data, or customer funds. Protection is provided through a combination of multi-signature (MPC) and trusted execution environments (TEE), which eliminates the possibility of transactions being signed by MoonPay itself or an AI agent without user confirmation. The technical basis of the service is the infrastructure of Sodot, acquired by MoonPay in 2026, which currently secures assets worth over $50 billion and serves more than 10 million wallets of leading cryptographic companies.

MoonPay Labs Chief Engineer Niraj Prasad emphasized that PayBox will fill a critical gap in the functionality of AI agents by adding the ability to pay directly to previously available product and service recommendations. The architecture of the system is designed taking into account three main vectors of fraud in the field of agency payments: key theft, leakage of payment card data and system vulnerabilities. Implemented security mechanisms block each of these scenarios, allowing users to automate payments with predefined restrictions, while maintaining full sovereignty over their digital assets and financial instruments.
