Netflix plans to enter into new partnership agreements with traditional broadcasters, following the example of its recent deal with French broadcaster TF1. The CEO of the streaming giant, Greg Peters, spoke about this in an interview with the Financial Times. According to him, the current collaboration with TF1 - the largest commercial television network in France - will be a model for Netflix to understand how such integrations work most effectively.
The agreement with TF1, the terms of which were revealed on Thursday, gives French subscribers to Netflix access to linear channels and content upon request. This is the first such experience for streaming: previously, the company focused solely on creating its own content or licensing third-party films and series.
Peters also emphasized that Netflix remains true to its current strategy, refuting the media rumors of a possible acquisition of Lionsgate. Earlier this year, the streaming service had already exited the fight to buy Warner Bros. Discovery, ceding the opportunity to acquire its competitor, Paramount.
