According to recent research by the Defin platform and AIMIKA, only 12% of companies in Russia use artificial intelligence in recruiting on a permanent basis. The vast majority of employers are limited to piecemeal implementation - for example, to automatically drop off resumes or communicate with applicants through chat bots. So, despite the active discussion of HR digitalization, the real transformation of the hiring function is proceeding slowly and unevenly.

Companies that have already implemented AI tools apply them to match job profiles, test skills, and predict candidate success. However, all of these solutions are auxiliary and do not replace a living specialist. The final decision on employment remains a matter for the individual. Among the constraints, experts cite poor data quality for training algorithms, risks of bias, difficulty integrating with existing HR systems, and distrust by businesses and applicants.

The recruits retain key tasks: soft skills assessment and cultural compatibility, negotiation process, and shaping the employer’s image. It is expected that as technology becomes cheaper and models improve, the share of companies with a systemic AI approach will gradually increase, but full replacement of human involvement in hiring is not yet foreseen.
