OpenAI is developing a smartphone together with MediaTek and Qualcomm. ixbt writes that mass production of the device could start in 2028. The main feature of the gadget is the abandonment of the usual application system.

Instead of separate applications, the main interface will be AI-agent. The user will just have to formulate the task, for example "order a taxi and set an alarm for 7 a.m.", and artificial intelligence will do it without needing to open different services. This approach should change the logic of working with a smartphone.

For the new device, OpenAI is developing a special processor together with MediaTek and Qualcomm. The chip is not created for games or high performance, but rather to analyze user requests, understand context, and execute commands quickly through a built-in AI assistant.
