OpenAI introduced "workspace agents" in ChatGPT, which can perform complex tasks and long processes for the benefit of entire teams. These virtual assistants are based on the Codex and operate entirely in the cloud, allowing them to continue executing tasks even when there is no user. They are created once and then shared by employees via ChatGPT or Slack, taking care of reporting, code writing, case processing, and other operations that require coordination between different tools and context.

The example is given by an agent for sales: he automatically collects call notes and customer research, qualifies new leads, and prepares drafts of outgoing emails for managers. This allows for less time spent on routine data "linking" and focus on engaging with customers. New agents are available in the research preview for subscribers of ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, Edu and K-12 education rate.

OpenAI has also released a free Privacy Filter tool that disguises sensitive information in ChatGPT inbound messages before the chat bot sees it.
