The China Motor Vehicle Association (CPCA) released data for April, with total car sales down 21.6% to 1.4 million units. At the same time, the market is rapidly moving away from gasoline. Electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids (NEVs) already account for 60% of sales, while cars with a DVD have only 40% left. Gasoline car sales plummeted by 37% year on year.

In the top ten best-selling cars in China, only one gasoline car entered in April (Geely Coolray, 7th place). The remaining nine items are electric and one connected hybrid. By comparison, as early as March, there were five gasoline models in a dozen, compared to seven in January.

China’s exports of electric vehicles and hybrids soared by 111.8% in April.
