Chinese developers have announced a unique, large-scale program that will allow ordinary citizens to obtain advanced SeeLight S1 humanoid robots completely free of charge. These innovative hardware assistants are designed to perform a wide range of everyday tasks and are intended to completely free people from routine household chores. The official launch of this ambitious project and the first mass testing of the androids in real residential apartments are scheduled for 2027 in Wuhan.
This smart home assistant boasts an impressive set of skills, allowing it to effortlessly handle common household chores. The robot can carefully chop vegetables, fry eggs, run a washing machine, hang up wet laundry, expertly make a bed, and perform many other monotonous household tasks. During the pilot phase, the first to receive this free high-tech assistance will be those most in need: large families with small children, seniors requiring additional care, and pet owners.
At the current production stage, the retail price of one SeeLight S1 is quite steep, amounting to approximately $15,000 (approximately 1,070,000 rubles at the current exchange rate). However, the manufacturer's management has no plans to rest on its laurels and views the upcoming tests as an important step toward process optimization. The developers' primary strategic goal for the near future is a large-scale production upgrade, which will reduce the final commercial cost of the humanoid robot by almost half, making it accessible to millions of consumers worldwide.
