After years of negotiations with regulators, fintech company Revolut has finally obtained a full banking license in the UK, allowing it to launch lending and other banking products. Previously, the service operated with a limited license, which hindered the development of services - now the company can open accounts for both private clients and businesses. The licensing process began in 2021, and in July 2024, the Office of Prudential Regulation issued a pre-authorization with a deposit limit of up to £50,000, which was significantly lower than for large players like Barclays.

The transition to a full license marks a new phase for Revolut in the home market. Company co-founder Nick Dritsky called this event key to development strategy, stressing that the UK remains a central business focus. At the same time, fintech continues to expand internationally, applying for a US license in March and expanding into 30 new markets by 2030.

As of 2025, Revolut’s customer base has reached 70 million users worldwide and the company’s valuation has risen to $75 billion, strengthening its position as one of Europe’s most expensive private technology projects.
