In February 2026, Russia rose to the top spot among countries importing passenger cars from China, climbing from fourth place the previous month. This result was recorded against the backdrop of a substantial increase in shipments and strengthening demand for Chinese vehicles within the Russian market.
The volume of imports for the month grew by nearly one-third—from $654.9 million in January to $855.8 million in February. This allowed Russia to overtake traditionally strong buyers and secure the leading position in the global export structure of the Chinese automotive industry.
Brazil took second place with a figure of $690.9 million, followed by the United Kingdom in third, having imported cars worth $626.8 million. The top five also included Belgium ($502.9 million) and the United Arab Emirates ($492 million), underscoring the broad geographical reach of demand for Chinese automobiles.
Amidst rising shipments to Russia and several other nations, imports by the United States saw a noticeable decline. In February, U.S. imports fell by nearly 25% compared to January, totaling $145.8 million and dropping the country to 21st place in the ranking of largest buyers.
The sharp increase in purchases by Russia reflects the ongoing reorientation of the automotive market and the strengthening position of Chinese manufacturers. If current trends persist, China could firmly establish itself as the key supplier of passenger cars for the Russian market.
