The founders of leading crypto firms, Arthur Hayes (BitMEX) and Kyle Samani (Multicoin Capital), took a bet of $100,000 to pledge the lost amount to charity. The topic of discussion was the return on assets from 2 June 2026 to 1 January 2027. Hayes bet on the native token Hyperliquid (HYPE), predicting its superiority over all cryptocurrencies from the first ten, while Samani chose Solana. Bybit Exchange is responsible for fixing the results of the bet.
Hayes’s position is underpinned by record market dynamics: on June 1, the HYPE exchange rate updated its historic high of $73.48, and the project’s market capitalization reached $16.12 billion. This result allowed the asset to move Dogecoin from the ninth position in the global ranking. The foundation for growth was laid by the launch of the first US HYPE-based spot ETFs: on 12 May, 21Shares listed THYP on the Nasdaq, and on 15 May, Bitwise listed BHYP on the New York Stock Exchange. The initial trading volume on the first day reached $6.11 million. According to SoSoValue, in ten trading days, issuers have accumulated over $100 million, making it the most successful launch of an Altcoin ETF in 2026, outperforming similar products on Bitcoin, ether and Solana.
Arthur Hayes' personal portfolio also shows strong growth within the ecosystem. At the end of April, the businessman bought 26,022 HYPE tokens for $1.1 million, and his current assets include 247,334 coins totaling $10.4 million, generating an unrealized profit of $2.2 million. Hayes has regularly expressed public support for the project, earlier in March, announcing a forecast that HYPE would reach $150 by August.
