Average car loan term in Russia approaches six-year high

In February 2026, the average term for car loans in Russia nearly reached six years, marking a two-year high. This was reported by the National Bureau of Credit Histories.

The figure stood at 5.98 years, extending its upward trend for the tenth consecutive month. On a year-over-year basis, the term increased by 17.9%—compared to 5.07 years a year earlier. Compared to January, the increase amounted to 0.9%.

The longest loan terms were recorded in regions experiencing active growth in the car lending sector. In major cities, loan terms remain lower. In Moscow, the average term was 5.37 years; in St. Petersburg, it was 5.55 years; and in Moscow Oblast, it stood at 5.63 years.
