Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley believes that the era of confrontation between traditional banks and the first cryptocurrency has reached its logical conclusion. In his view, financial institutions are reorienting and beginning to actively promote the integration of digital assets into everyday economic activity. Wall Street and global financial organizations are accelerating their entry into this market, which is gradually blurring the boundaries between traditional and decentralized finance. Horsley specifically noted that this summer, two financial giants managing assets worth more than one trillion dollars approved the launch of crypto products even in a bear market. According to him, this year all major players have effectively joined the crypto industry, which clearly demonstrates their strong belief in the long‑term success of the innovative sector.
Fabian Dori, Chief Investment Officer at Sygnum, also agrees that the relationship between the banking sector and the crypto industry has undergone fundamental structural changes. Banks have moved from openly opposing digital assets to directly creating, supporting, and distributing them. This is reflected in the provision of professional custody services, the tokenization of real assets, and ensuring strict compliance with regulatory requirements in trading. Anchorage Digital CEO Nathan McCauley shared information that over the past two years, his company’s customer base has increasingly reflected the convergence of traditional and cryptocurrency finance. Large financial institutions typically prefer to cooperate with specialized companies engaged in crypto infrastructure rather than spend resources on building their own technological systems from scratch.
In recent years, more and more reputable financial institutions have entered the crypto market. Among them were such well-known organizations as Swissquote, DBS Bank, BBVA, BNY Mellon, structures affiliated with Credit Suisse, as well as Morgan Stanley and Charles Schwab.
