The Tron blockchain, which supports smart contracts, has strengthened its position as the leading network for stablecoins, mainly due to the sustained activity of Tether. According to the latest report by the analytical company Messari, the market capitalization of the project’s stablecoins increased by four and one‑tenth of a percent compared to the first quarter, with USDT accounting for almost ninety‑nine percent of all stablecoins in this network. In the second quarter, Tron became the largest host of the flagship stablecoin Tether, with a volume of eighty‑seven point nine billion dollars, surpassing Ethereum with its seventy‑eight point seven billion. Currently, this share continues to grow and is approaching ninety‑one billion dollars.
The network has become more in demand for payments in stablecoins after the introduction of a new feature that allows transactions to be carried out without the need to pay fees with the native token. Furthermore, the project has the advantage of being a pioneer and is very popular in countries with developing economies, such as those in Africa and Latin America. That is why Tron leads in the number of transfers of less than one thousand dollars among chains with its own issuance, capturing 52 percent of these small transactions. The network has also demonstrated record activity for the third consecutive quarter: the average daily number of transactions reached 11.8 million, and the average daily number of active addresses grew to 3.6 million in the second quarter.
Artemis financial analyst Alex Obchakevich emphasized that these results indicate the presence of real, non‑speculative, and stable demand, which is monetized without subsidies and is not dependent on market cycles. Over the past three quarters, the network has added infrastructure to enable access for institutional investors and launched its first tokenized real assets. Obchakevich added that Tron is also leading in the area of payments using cryptocurrency cards: the share of transaction volumes has grown to $887 million, which accounts for 34 % of this market. Blockchain continues to maintain its leadership in the third quarter in terms of account top‑ups, with a market share of 21 percent, having recorded 108.5 million dollars out of a total tracked volume of 509.6 million.
