The Chinese company Unitree has unveiled a new humanoid robot called “Superman” – a prototype capable of running at a speed of twelve and sixty‑six hundredths meters per second and jumping two meters high from a standing position. Reuters reported on the presentation. The company claims that it took just over three months to develop the humanoid, which surpassed human world records in track and field. However, “Superman” is still a prototype, and engineers continue to work on improving it. The announcement took place on the eve of the opening of the World Robotics Conference in Beijing, which will be held from August 19 to 23, 2026.

On August 19, 2026, Unitree shares will begin trading on the STAR Market of the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The initial public offering was oversubscribed by retail investors more than eight thousand times, and the probability of a retail participant receiving the securities was about 0.0018 percent. The offering price is set at 150.8 yuan per share, with the company’s valuation at around 61 billion yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 9 billion dollars. During the procedure, the company will raise about 6.1 billion yuan, or around 905 million dollars before fees. Among Unitree’s investors are tech giants such as Tencent, Alibaba, and DeepSeek. According to media reports, prior to the listing, derivatives on offshore markets indicated a strong debut of the shares, and the STAR50 index rose by approximately fifteen percent from the three‑month low at the beginning of August.

As of July 2026, Unitree has produced a total of about eighteen thousand bipedal humanoid robots of various models. It should be recalled that in August, the AgiBot company claimed primacy in the global humanoid market, which happened before disputes arose over the methods of calculating shipments between the two leading companies in the industry. The “Superman” presentation and the successful stock offering demonstrate the rapid development of Chinese robotics and the high interest of investors in this sector.
