In China, the open-ended project Colleague Skill is rapidly gaining momentum, offering an opportunity to transfer knowledge and experience of a departing employee into an AI agent. The GitHub repository has already been awarded stars by more than 8,000 users. The author describes the tool as a civilized way to break up with a colleague - instead of losing his or her credentials, the company gets a digital counterpart.

To train the network, it is loaded with work correspondence, files, spreadsheets, letters, audio and screenshots. As a result, AI learns the way people communicate, their approach to tasks, how to write code on tech jobs and respond to requests. Some users claim that the system even knows how to pass responsibility on to others.

The project did not come from a blank slate: companies began to require employees to detail their work processes, then fire them and use the collected data to train AI. On the internet, this was dubbed «the distilling of an employee».
