Google's parent company, Alphabet, has officially revealed the scale of its investment in SpaceX following the aerospace company's record-breaking initial public offering. According to the quarterly report form 10-Q, the current market valuation of the tech giant's share is $94 billion. This publication was the first time that the corporation evaluated this asset at market prices after the issuer went public in June of this year. A significant portion of this amount, namely $80 billion, is subject to short-term temporary turnover restrictions that prohibit the immediate sale of securities.

The history of the formation of this position began in January 2015, when Google, together with the Fidelity Foundation, invested one billion dollars in a private space project. At that time, the company's valuation was about $12 billion, and Google's share capital reached 7.5 percent. Over the next decade, SpaceX conducted numerous funding rounds to develop satellite infrastructure and new programs. An additional dilution of the share occurred in February 2026 as part of a large-scale corporate merger with a technology startup in the field of artificial intelligence. As a result of these processes, Alphabet's effective share had dropped to about five percent by the time of its stock market debut.

Until recently, while the company remained private, Alphabet reflected this asset on the balance sheet according to conservative estimates. The multi-level time restriction system, which includes the lock-up of $14.1 billion until the end of 2027, is designed to prevent an oversupply of shares on the open market. After a successful offering at $135 per share and an initial valuation of $1.77 trillion, major institutional investors, including Alphabet and Fidelity, continue to comply with standard agreements. These measures are aimed at maintaining trading stability and ensuring smooth integration of the asset into the global financial system.
