American Company River Publishes Bold Bitcoin Price Forecast

Analysts at American financial company River have presented a Bitcoin forecast for the coming years. They suggest that the price of the first cryptocurrency could rise to $250,000–$840,000 over the next three to five years. This scenario will become possible if investors continue to gradually increase Bitcoin's share in their portfolios.

According to the experts, growing interest from long-term investors could attract between $1.3 trillion and $5.3 trillion into the asset. In that case, Bitcoin's market capitalization could reach $5.5–$17.5 trillion. The analysts emphasize, however, that the forecast is based on a number of assumptions, and actual capital inflows could turn out to be either lower or higher than the stated range. River recommends that long-term investors allocate at least 10% of their portfolio to Bitcoin. Specialists explain this by noting that the traditional 60/40 model of stocks and bonds has become less effective. This has been influenced by high inflation, rising government debt, and a shift in the relationship between stocks and bonds. In such conditions, Bitcoin can serve as a protective and diversifying asset.

At the same time, 10% is a baseline benchmark rather than a universal rule for everyone. The specific size of a position should depend on the investment horizon, tolerance for sharp price swings, the size of financial reserves, and the presence of other assets in the portfolio. In the long term, River suggests that Bitcoin could appear in 20–40% of investment portfolios, with an average allocation of 2–4%. This is a more conservative scenario compared to the current recommendation, but it reflects the expected gradual adoption of the asset among institutional and retail investors.

Previously, Factor CEO and trader Peter Brandt stated that Bitcoin could reach $250,000 by 2029, provided the current market cycle structure remains intact. His forecast complements River's estimates and points to the continued optimism among some market participants regarding the long-term prospects of the first cryptocurrency.
