Analysts at TD Securities and Credit Agricole CIB expect Yuan appreciation

Experts forecast that the Chinese currency could strengthen in the second quarter, despite the traditional tendency for it to weaken during this period. According to their estimates, the yuan exchange rate could approach the 6.8 mark against the dollar.

Analysts at TD Securities and Credit Agricole CIB attribute this potential appreciation to the resilience of China's economy and a recovery in domestic demand. The currency receives additional support from a substantial trade surplus and significant energy resources, which enable the country to weather external shocks more easily.

It is noted that in previous years, the yuan typically declined in the second quarter due to seasonal factors. However, in 2026, this situation could shift against the backdrop of growing investor interest and positive momentum within the industrial sector.
