Apple has developed and trained a large language model specifically for the Chinese market with the technological support of Alibaba. This was a noticeable change in the strategy of the American manufacturer, which previously mainly relied on solutions from local partners to implement artificial intelligence functions. Having its own customized model potentially gives Apple significantly more control over the user experience on the iPhone and other devices. The launch of Apple Intelligence in China is expected in the coming months after the operating system update. In July, the Chinese Cyberspace Administration officially registered Apple's generative AI service, which paved the way for its full-fledged appearance on Chinese devices.

The new Apple Intelligence architecture for China represents a unique two-tier strategy. On the one hand, the company uses its own language model, trained taking into account the specifics of the local market and closely integrated with the operating system. On the other hand, Apple continues to work with Chinese technology companies such as Alibaba and Baidu to handle more complex requests and comply with stringent regulatory requirements. If the plans are implemented in full, Apple will actually become the first foreign company to receive Beijing's permission to provide its own AI model to Chinese users.

China remains one of the key and most competitive markets for Apple, where local manufacturers, primarily Huawei, are actively implementing generative artificial intelligence directly into their smartphones. The lack of full-fledged Apple Intelligence on Chinese iPhones has become a serious commercial problem, as buyers of premium devices expect advanced intelligent features. Using global models such as ChatGPT is impossible in China due to local regulation, which has forced Apple to create a separate technology ecosystem.
