Arthur Hayes, Chief Investment Officer of Maelstrom and co-founder of BitMEX, predicts that the price of Ethereum could rise to $5000 within a year due to Robinhood's use of Ethereum for its blockchain infrastructure. To reach this goal, ETH needs to increase by nearly 89% from around $2650. In his comments made on September 28 at EastPoint: Seoul 2026, Hayes pointed to Robinhood's decision to use Ethereum as a protective layer for its blockchain as a potential catalyst for widespread institutional adoption of this asset. He stated, "Robinhood has chosen Ethereum as the protective layer for its own blockchain. Robinhood has started a new narrative for Ethereum."
Robinhood Chain, which launched on July 1, places Ethereum at the center of its network. This platform recorded nearly $9 billion in total volume on decentralized exchanges by August. Currently, Robinhood Chain holds 46,748 ETH, and the number of active users has reached 194,000. Hayes noted that Robinhood's use of Ethereum could serve as a benchmark for other major financial companies when making decisions about building their own architecture based on Ethereum.
There has also been an increase in demand for Ethereum: over five trading sessions, nearly $690 million in net inflows have entered American spot Ethereum ETFs. Meanwhile, staking activity for Ethereum remains high, with approximately 1.61 million ETH waiting to be entered into the staking system, while active validators number 889,387.
