The Base team has activated the B20 standard in the email to launch stablecoins, RWA and other interchangeable tokens. B20 includes built-in controls: access roles, proposal limits, translation rules, checkboxes/burn, operations paused, and transaction notes. The tokens are fully compatible with ERC-20, so they are supported by existing wallets and exchanges.
The standard offers two options: Asset (6-18 decimal places) and Stablecoin (fixed 6 digits with mandatory identification of the currency of nomination). B20 is part of the Beryl upgrade, activated on 25 June 2026: the update reduced the finalization window of findings from 7 to 5 days and added client iteration Reth V2.
On 25-26 June, Base experienced two release stops of blocks (116 and 20 minutes) related to the bug in the sequencer logic. Earlier in February, the developers announced a move from the Optimism stack to their own unified architecture.
