The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Chinese Institute of Optics and Electronic Informatics have agreed to establish a joint laboratory. The initiative is part of the global project «Belt and Road». This became known on April 6 after a meeting of the first deputy chairman of the Presidium of NAS of Belarus Vitaliy Zaleski with Professor Zhu Xiao from Huachun University of Science and Technology of China.

The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation in the field of combined materials processing technologies, as well as the possibility of combining laser methods with magnetic pulse processing. This opens up new opportunities for high-tech products. Also discussed was the joint participation in the Belarusian-Chinese competition of flagship scientific and technical projects and a major exhibition in the field of optics and electronics, which will be held in May 2026 in Wuhan.

As a result of the negotiations, Zhu Xiao and the Deputy Director for Scientific Work at the Physical-Technical Institute of NAS of Belarus Igor Ulumlikov signed a protocol that enshrined all agreements reached on cooperation between the university and the Belarusian institute.
