Binance has launched Agent OS – a platform for developers through which AI agents gain access to market data, monitor user accounts, and execute crypto trades on the exchange. The company’s announcement states that the platform supports AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor. Users can grant agents access to account information and allow trades within set limits.
Users can assign agents to separate subaccounts to separate funds and trading activity, configure their permissions, and revoke access at any time. Binance stated that it tracks transactions through Agent OS, but does not see the agent’s external information sources, its interpretation, or its decision‑making process in the AI application selected by the user. Agent OS also connects agents to Binance payment tools and services for working with on‑chain services. Agents can process payments and interact with wallets and other on‑chain services.
Binance has joined the growing group of crypto exchanges that are opening up trading infrastructure to AI agents. Coinbase launched Coinbase for agents in June. AI models, including ChatGPT and Claude, can connect to users’ accounts, autonomously execute crypto trades, and implement trading strategies. The tool also supports agent‑driven payments via Coinbase’s x402 protocol. Other exchanges have chosen different approaches to AI autonomy. In July, Kraken introduced an AI investment assistant that monitors markets and recommends trades based on users’ financial goals and risk tolerance, but requires user approval before executing a trade.
This trend has extended beyond trading. OKX launched a beta version of a marketplace where AI agents can find work, autonomously execute trades, and hire other agents to complete tasks, using payments in stablecoins and an on‑chain reputation system. Several leaders in the crypto industry, including Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire, have stated that AI agents may soon account for a significant portion of on‑chain activity. Binance co‑founder Changpeng Zhao expressed a similar view, calling cryptocurrency the “native currency” of AI agents.
