The American division of the Binance US crypto exchange plans to apply to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for a regulated contract market (DCM) license. The company's CEO, Stephen Gregory, confirmed this intention during the Rare Evo conference, taking place from July 28 to 31, 2026. This initiative will allow the platform to legally offer event contracts to users, which is a key element of the strategy to restore market positions and expand the customer base in the face of strict regulatory oversight.

Event contracts are binary futures, which are calculated upon the occurrence of a specific condition with an unambiguous outcome of "yes" or "no". This segment of the financial market is showing exponential growth: in June 2026, the weekly trading volume in the industry reached $10.8 billion. Industry leaders such as Kalshi and Polymarket have increased their combined annual trading volume from $2 billion to $48.4 billion, stimulating the activity of other major players, including Coinbase and Gemini, already operating in this regulated space.

Obtaining DCM status is of strategic importance for Binance US in the complex regulatory environment of the United States. This step will allow the exchange not only to expand the range of derivative products, but also to implement a comprehensive program to reduce trading commissions and attract professional market makers. Such measures are aimed at significantly increasing the platform's liquidity, diversifying revenue sources, and strengthening its long-term competitiveness in the American digital asset market.
