Bitcoin Suisse announced its intention to cut up to 60 out of 120 jobs in Switzerland as part of an international reorganization. This process is part of a strategy aimed at expanding the entire organizational structure and improving its international competitiveness. Currently, a consultation process with employees will take place until September 20, during which they can submit their suggestions and ideas, which may affect the final number of layoffs. According to preliminary information, if the maximum cuts are made, this will reduce the staff of the Swiss office to 60 employees, which effectively constitutes 50% of the workforce in the country.
The headquarters of Bitcoin Suisse is located in Zug, and currently, the company employs about 200 people worldwide, including 120 in Switzerland. Reportedly, the reorganization will mainly affect office and administrative positions, as well as software development functions, which will be concentrated in international hubs such as Bratislava and a new hub planned in Vietnam. Additionally, the company will close its IT office in Copenhagen, which also underscores its strategy of centralizing technical functions in more economically advantageous countries.
CEO of Bitcoin Suisse Andrej Majcen stated that a key factor for these actions is cost reduction, noting that maintaining operations in countries like Bratislava and Vietnam will be significantly cheaper. He emphasized that the reorganization is not related to current conditions in the crypto market. Despite this, Bitcoin Suisse plans to maintain its Swiss identity and continue to develop asset management services, remaining in Zug as its main headquarters.
