Bitcoin Volatility Returns: $810 Million Liquidations in a Day

At the start of the business week, Bitcoin's price volatility increased as the asset deviated at the $84,000 level and lost over $3,000 before beginning a noticeable recovery. Other altcoins also followed this trend, leading to the total value of liquidated positions rising to more than $800 million for the day. For example, Ethereum (ETH) fell to $2,410 but then recovered by $100, reflecting the market's volatility. At the end of the previous business week, Bitcoin experienced a significant drop when bears pushed it down to an 18-day low of $80,400. However, over the weekend, bulls managed to bring it back to the $83,000 level. The asset attempted to overcome the important recovery level of $84,000, but bears intervened on Monday morning, leading to another drop. As a result of the subsequent deviation, Bitcoin fell again on Tuesday morning to $80,850 on the Bitstamp platform but then recovered, reaching nearly $83,500 at the time of writing.

Recent fluctuations in the cryptocurrency market have triggered liquidation measurements. According to CoinGlass, the total amount of liquidations reached $810 million, with long positions accounting for about 85%. The number of liquidated traders reached 173,611. It is worth noting that the largest liquidated position on the Binance exchange amounted to more than $9.6 million, highlighting the seriousness of the current market situation. It is also noteworthy that despite the overall decline, XRP, for example, was able to recover, bouncing from a morning low of $1.31 to the current price of $1.36, although it still remains more than 3% below its price 24 hours ago when it was halted at $1.40.

Thus, in recent days, the market has shown significant movements, leading to such a number of liquidations. Given the volatile nature of cryptocurrencies, volatility may continue, and it is important for traders to monitor market movements to avoid getting caught in such a difficult situation. The overall turnover of liquidations demonstrates the high risks that characterize current trading conditions. Multiple liquidated positions in such a short time are impressive, showing how quickly conditions can change in this fast-developing market.
