An unknown large bitcoin holder made a large-scale financial transaction. He transferred 5,908 coins worth more than $382 million. This operation was closely monitored by analysts of the Arkham platform. The funds came from an address that had remained completely inactive for more than eight years. Initially, this wallet received cryptocurrency back in late 2017. At that historical moment, bitcoin was trading around $16,800. The total value of all these coins at that time was only about 99.6 million dollars. Now their market price has increased several times.

All 5,908 bitcoins were moved in just one large transaction. They arrived at a completely new address, which has no public identification yet. After this transfer, the funds remain without any further movement. Arkham specialists have given an important clarification about such operations. They are often solely related to changing the way an asset is securely stored. By themselves, such actions do not indicate the direct intention of the owner to sell the cryptocurrency. Investors can simply upgrade their security systems or change service providers.

Previously, Arkham analysts had already recorded similar large-scale movements of old funds. They recently recorded the transfer of 2,650 bitcoins worth about $203 million. These coins came from a wallet created in the very first year of bitcoin's existence. However, in that case, the coins were sent to over-the-counter trading platforms. The recipients were well-known institutional players FalconX and Cumberland. The current situation looks different, as the new address is not yet linked to exchanges. The market is closely monitoring any movements of such sleeping whales.
