Bitget Introduces Dynamic Leverage Up to 800x for Gold

Crypto exchange Bitget has switched CFDs on gold (XAUUSD) and the US dollar/offshore Chinese yuan pair (USDCNH) to dynamic leverage with a tiered margin system. The maximum leverage for gold has increased to 800x, and for the currency pair to 100x. The new parameters took effect on August 15, according to a company press release. A CFD is a contract for difference, where a trader profits from price movements without purchasing the underlying asset. On Bitget, this segment is available through the MetaTrader 5 terminal.

The 800x leverage applies not to the entire trade volume, but only to the first 100,000 USDT. Beyond that, margin requirements increase in tiers, with each rate applied only to the portion of the position that falls within its respective range. The XAUUSD scale provides a rate of 0.125% on amounts up to 100,000 USDT, 0.2% up to 10 million USDT, 1% up to 20 million USDT, 10% up to 40 million USDT, 20% up to 100 million USDT, and 50% above 100 million USDT. For example, a gold position with a notional value of 100,000 USDT will require 125 USDT in initial margin with an effective leverage of 800x. For a position of 1 million USDT, the margin will reach 1,925 USDT, and the effective leverage will drop to approximately 520x.

For USDCNH, the rate starts at 1% on amounts up to 1 million USDT, then rises to 2% up to 10 million USDT, 5% up to 25 million USDT, 10% up to 50 million USDT, and 20% on positions exceeding 50 million USDT. Bitget CEO Gracie Chen stated that traders today are increasingly active across multiple markets simultaneously, making capital efficiency especially important. Dynamic leverage gives users more flexibility as positions grow while preserving risk control mechanisms — particularly relevant for markets like gold, where macroeconomic events rapidly shift trading activity.

Gold has become the primary driver of Bitget's CFD segment. Daily turnover in the segment exceeded $8 billion, with XAUUSD accounting for 95% of additional growth. The revision of margin requirements coincided with August's rally in metals. Prior to this, Bitget added new account modes and updated risk management in copy trading. All changes fit within the model of a universal exchange where cryptocurrencies, equities, commodities, and forex are accessible through a single account. The full tier table has been published in the company's help center. Gracie Chen previously discussed the development of the tokenized equities market and new global markets infrastructure.
