BitMine Reaches Ether Accumulation Goal

BitMine is on track to achieve its goal of accumulating 5% of the total ether (ETH) supply and plans to halt purchases once this target is reached. As of October 4, 2026, BitMine owned 6,016,414 ETH, which represents approximately 4.9% of the total supply of 122.1 million ETH. The company acquired 15,112 ETH in the previous week and has been accumulating tokens since June 30, 2025. According to Chairman Tom Lee, an additional 100,000 ETH will be needed to reach the target.

BitMine has 5,067,309 ETH in staking, which accounts for about 84% of the company's total assets. The estimated annual income from staking is approximately $363 million at the current yield rate of 2.63%. Additionally, if more assets are staked, the income could increase to $431 million. It is important to note that BitMine has recorded the value of its ETH at $16.4 billion, based on a reference price of $2,726 per token, and had $643 million in cash and marketable securities.

The company's strategy focuses on maintaining a share of the total ether issuance, which varies depending on the issuance of tokens by validators and the burning of funds. The 5% threshold is not a fixed number, as it adapts to changes in the total amount of ether. If BitMine exceeds this threshold, the company will need to account for ether obtained from operations, even after ceasing open market purchases.
