The cryptocurrency Bittensor (TAO) faces continued downside risk after its rally to $340 weakened, and sellers regained control. After several months of consolidation, TAO broke through the resistance level in early September amid increased trading volume, allowing the price to rise above the previous resistance level around $255. Primarily, TAO fluctuated around the $215 level during August and early September, indicating buyers absorbing selling pressure. In mid-September, increased volume allowed TAO to break through the $255 mark, indicating heightened demand for the token.
After the breakout, this level became a new support zone, leading to a rise to $340. However, as traders took profits, TAO began to decline again, and the bullish momentum weakened. At the time of writing, the token was trading around $265, and the 252–255 zone became critically important. Defending this zone would indicate continued support for the breakout by buyers and a potential recovery opportunity. If the price falls below, it could jeopardize further downside prospects, considering that a four-hour close below $252 would risk a return to $215. The weakening momentum at the $340 level also marked the beginning of distribution, as buyers lost the ability to sustain TAO's final ascent.
A break below the ascending trendline indicates a loss of short-term momentum by buyers. Failed attempts to recover above $300 and $315 suggest that sellers began to lock in positions at lower prices. Now, buyers need more than just support to exert pressure. If TAO breaks the sequence of lower highs and rises above $280, it would be a good opportunity to recover lost positions. A return above $300 with increasing volume would be solid evidence of a successful reversal attempt and would open the way to $320 and $340.
