Block, a blockchain company founded by Jack Dorsey, has implemented the AI tool Builderbot, which now generates about 15% of the firm’s software code. The AI agent orchestrator is integrated into Slack and automates the entire development cycle, from getting tasks in Jira and creating branches to writing code and designing pull requests. According to the company, the system performs more than 200,000 operations daily and closes about 1,500 code merge requests weekly, reducing task completion time from months to days.

A key feature of Builderbot is access to the entire Block code base, which allows engineers to easily make changes to related services like Square or Cash App even without deep knowledge of their architecture. The bot only works with source code and configurations without access to customer payment data. The tool is built on the open framework goose using the MCP protocol from Anthropic. B Block believe that the transition to "native" engineering processes based on neuronals will be a major trend in the IT industry.
