On October 19, 2026, BNB Foundation announced the completion of the 37th quarterly BNB token burn. A total of 1,646,196.44 BNB was removed from circulation, approximately $1.2 billion at the time of the operation. After the burn, the total supply was 131,512,085 BNB; data is current as of 10:05 UTC on October 19.
The asset showed little reaction to the news: neither the price nor the trading volume changed significantly.
The operation was conducted directly on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC) network: tokens were sent to a special address from which they cannot be withdrawn. The Auto-Burn mechanism is used to reduce supply—it automatically determines the quarterly burn volume based on the token's market price and the number of blocks created in BSC. The ultimate goal is to reduce the supply to 100 million BNB.
BNB Foundation clarified that after the Lorentz and Maxwell updates, the network began creating blocks more frequently, so developers adjusted the parameters of the Auto-Burn formula while maintaining its original principle. Additionally, the BEP-95 mechanism operates in BSC—a constant burn of a portion of transaction fees, the volume of which depends on network activity.
In July 2026, BNB Chain conducted the 36th quarterly burn, destroying about 1.62 million BNB valued at $931.7 million. Previously, the BNB Chain team announced a next-generation L1 blockchain for agent trading with a launch in 2027.
