The Polish studio CD Projekt RED has officially announced a major story expansion for its cult role-playing game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, titled "Song of the Past." The developers promise that the upcoming DLC will not only bring players back to the familiar universe but will also serve as a crucial narrative bridge connecting Geralt's story to the next, fourth installment of the famous saga. The official release of this ambitious project is scheduled for 2027.
Alongside the new storyline, the expansion will introduce a massive visual overhaul featuring advanced next-generation graphics. Such a significant technological leap will inevitably trigger a sharp increase in PC system requirements. The developers specifically emphasized that a high-speed solid-state drive (SSD) and the Windows 11 operating system will be strictly mandatory for comfortable gameplay at higher settings, though Windows 10 is still permitted in the minimum specifications. The entry barrier for PC configurations includes twelve gigabytes of RAM, processors equivalent to the Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, and graphics cards like the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT. These specifications clearly demonstrate the authors' desire to squeeze the maximum performance out of modern hardware and set a new quality benchmark for the upcoming sequel.
