OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot has received an Apple Messages plugin for Mac, which allows you to search for messages, view dialogues, prepare drafts, and send responses. In the usage examples, the developers suggest checking the calendar and responding to the interlocutor by inviting them to dinner next week, reminding them about yesterday’s messages, or finding the dates of birthdays. In addition, the plugin can delete messages and search for data in the deep history of the conversation. The tool is suitable not only for personal but also for work‑related tasks – it integrates with Codex and ChatGPT Work on the desktop.

The new feature has raised questions regarding privacy. OpenAI told Bloomberg that the plugin runs locally on the computer and does not create an index of all the user’s messages. The company specifically warned that the continuous approval mode removes the final opportunity to review the text before ChatGPT sends it on the user’s behalf.

As a reminder, in July, the media learned that OpenAI plans to enter the consumer electronics market with an AI companion for the home, which is a smart speaker.
