Circle and Tereina Integrate USDC and EURC into SAP Pay

Circle announced a partnership with Tereina to integrate USDC and EURC payments into SAP software via SAP Pay and SAP Cloud ERP. The collaboration was announced on October 7. SAP Pay was launched on October 6, 2026, and was built over 2.5 years. According to SAP, the company's clients generate 84% of global trade. The product operates in the US and the UK, covering 89 corridors and more than 40 currencies, supporting ACH, wire transfers, bank transfers, checks, and stablecoin settlements, as well as automated reconciliation, fraud detection, and multi-channel routing.

USDC will become the preferred stablecoin for dollar payments, EURC for euro payments. Tereina claims a potential cost reduction of up to 25%, but as a potential ceiling. The companies did not disclose clients, volume, or timelines. According to Circle as of October 5, USDC circulation is $74.1 billion, reserves are $74.3 billion, with $9.4 billion issued and $10 billion redeemed over seven days. In the second quarter of 2026, USDC's on-chain transaction volume was $14.8 trillion, up 151% year-on-year. The Circle Payments Network reached $14.7 billion, with 175 financial institutions involved.

The partnership will utilize Arc, Circle's blockchain, launched on September 16, 2026. Among the validators are Mastercard, Visa, BlackRock, DTCC, Standard Chartered, and ICE, totaling 11 institutional validators. Circle's cross-chain transfer protocol now supports EURC and cirBTC on selected Arc routes. Not every SAP Pay transaction must go through Arc. Previously, Circle conducted an internal test: $68 million in transfers between eight entities in less than 30 minutes. Tereina and Circle plan pilots with value confirmation for clients. Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire called stablecoins the "foundational layer of infrastructure for global trade," while Tereina CEO Cedric Bru aims to make them an "embedded feature" in business applications.
