The AI system in the "Trends" section, which generates news summaries for Kalshi’s prediction markets, reported that Norway won 3-2 and Erling Holland scored two goals. At the time of the notification, the game had not yet started.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and consumer product chief Max Brantsburg responded quickly: the platform fixed the bug and updated systems to prevent a repeat of the incident. The final score of the match was 2:1 in favor of Norway, although Holland did secure a double. Brantsburg joked, "AI may have known something we didn’t."

The fake news appeared as part of Coinbase’s "Everything Exchange" strategy, integrating Kalshi data to generate content. The incident occurred against a background of active AI implementation in exchange products: in May, the company reduced its staff by 14% to optimize costs, and in June introduced Coinbase for Agents - a service for connecting digital assistants to retail accounts.
