In its quarterly report, Core Scientific disclosed that it had written off $41.9 million in penalties for early termination of its contract with Block Corporation and its Proto division. This agreement, concluded in July 2024, involved the supply of three-nanometer chips with a combined hashrate of about 15 hashes per second. The cancellation of the order marks the final revision of the corporate strategy: the organization no longer plans to invest in new equipment to maintain or expand its cryptocurrency mining capacity, completely refocusing on providing AI colocation services and the sale or decommissioning of aging mining rigs.

The financial performance of the second quarter of 2026 clearly demonstrates the results of this structural transformation. Revenue from the placement of AI systems increased to $ 136.7 million, which is many times higher than the same indicator last year and accounts for 83 percent of total revenue. At the same time, revenue from own mining decreased by 66 percent, amounting to $21.5 million, and quarterly bitcoin mining fell by 53 percent. It is noteworthy that all current revenue from hosting equipment is generated by a single major customer, CoreWeave, which provided about 77 percent of the organization's total revenue in the first half of the year.

In the future, the company intends to scale its infrastructure for high-performance computing, as evidenced by the recent announcement of a strategic partnership with AMD Corporation. The initial fifteen-year agreements cover five sites with a total capacity of 530 megawatts, and the potential contractual revenue is estimated at more than $14 billion. Despite a significant increase in capital expenditures to $ 797.5 million and the presence of long-term debt in the amount of $ 4.3 billion, the organization maintains free liquidity at $ 1.82 billion, which ensures the necessary financial stability for the implementation of the announced infrastructure projects.
