Crypto expert Carter discusses the risk of a «corporate takeover» of Bitcoin

Large institutional investors may attempt to influence Bitcoin's development if developers don't accelerate the implementation of protection against quantum attacks. This opinion was expressed by Nic Carter, a partner at Castle Island Ventures, who noted growing dissatisfaction with the pace of work on this issue.

According to him, if the community continues to delay the implementation of quantum-resistant cryptography, major players may intervene. Carter suggested a scenario in which institutions that invested heavily in the first cryptocurrency could force the replacement of key developers. He cited BlackRock as an example, emphasizing that with large-scale investments, corporations «may have no choice» but to actively protect their interests.

Austin Campbell, founder of Zero Knowledge Consulting, supported this view, noting that if a systemic threat exists, pressure on developers from large capital holders will inevitably increase. At the same time, Lumida Wealth Management co-founder Ram Ahluwalia considers such a scenario unlikely, since institutional Bitcoin investors, in his opinion, mostly adhere to a passive strategy.
