Crypto Market Experiences Mass Capital Withdrawals Amid Bitcoin Decline

On October 23, 2026, U.S. exchange-traded funds investing in Bitcoin (ETF) experienced significant capital outflows amounting to $634.99 million, coinciding with increased interest in XRP and Zcash. The total cryptocurrency market capitalization reached $2.75 trillion with a trading volume of $108.21 billion. Amid a stock market correction, where the S&P 500 index fell by 1.24%, there is an opening of short positions amid the closing of margin positions, leading to the liquidation of 82,246 traders in the futures market amounting to $332.09 million. The main beneficiaries of the fund distribution were XRP and Zcash, which showed strong fund inflows.

The Zcash ETF (ZCSH) showed an inflow of $14.23 million, continuing to gather funds for the third consecutive day, while XRP attracted $3.55 million. According to Fundstrat, the current correction is healthy and not a bubble: “This cycle represents a healthy correction, not a bubble.” There were also debates about privacy technologies amid the use of AI for tracking on public networks, which increased demand for private assets. DFINITY founder Dominic Williams accused NEAR Protocol of code theft, claiming that NEAR Intents technology is based on his proprietary ECDSA algorithm.

Meanwhile, in Asia, there is growing interest in stablecoins, and HSBC launched RedCoin in Hong Kong, available to 3.3 million users of the PayMe app. South Korea will recognize stablecoins as an official means of payment starting December 3, and Zcash developers are celebrating the project's decade, highlighting asset price growth amid increased interest in privacy.
