The cryptocurrency economy in the Middle East and North Africa is valued at $443.3 billion

According to Chainalysis, the cryptocurrency economy in the Middle East and North Africa is estimated at approximately $443.3 billion from July 2025 to June 2026, marking a 1.4% decline. The United Arab Emirates recorded a 32% increase to about $104.8 billion, while Turkey remains the leader with around $144.5 billion. There was also a fivefold increase in domestic stablecoin transactions in Turkey and disruptions in activities in Iran due to internet shutdowns. It is important to note that the data should not be represented as October market activities, as the reporting period ends in June 2026. An increase in transaction volume does not necessarily mean a proportional increase in the number of people using digital assets for everyday purchases.

Chainalysis' analysis of the crypto economy also points to significant differences in the development trajectories of cryptocurrencies in different countries in the region. For example, despite overall growth, some countries experience temporary disruptions in activity. Specifically, in Iran, there were noted disruptions in operations due to internet connection shutdowns, which could have impacted the generally accepted indicators. Various factors, such as inflation, access to currency, and regulation, influence the demand for stablecoins and the use of cryptocurrencies in everyday transactions.

Regional analysis of cryptocurrency usage shows that demand is influenced by various economic conditions, such as banking access and regulation. Support from authorities and the availability of new technologies can also be determining factors for the growth of crypto assets. It is necessary to separately monitor changes in infrastructure, which can have entirely different impacts on token demand, necessitating careful comparison between regulatory data and actual economic indicators. Areas such as transaction witnesses and their transparency also become important aspects for understanding the full picture, which includes observed changes in demand and consumption of cryptocurrency in the future.
