The cryptocurrency XRP has officially debuted on X (formerly Twitter) with the account @XRP, sparking enthusiastic reactions from Ripple's leadership and the broader XRP community. The account announced its arrival with a brief message: "Hello, world. The long-awaited time." The debut was quickly acknowledged by Ripple, which has been closely associated with this cryptocurrency since its early days. "For over a decade, we've been building on the XRP Ledger alongside thousands of others,"– wrote the blockchain company on X. "Glad to see you here, @XRP,"– Ripple added. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse also welcomed the new account, emphasizing that its appearance was eagerly anticipated. "This news has been waiting for its moment... Welcome @XRP!"– Garlinghouse wrote, accompanying his message with a short video.
At the time of the announcement, XRP was trading at approximately $1.30, having increased by 2.11% over the past 24 hours. Despite XRP's long history as one of the most well-known digital assets in the cryptocurrency industry, the @XRP profile had not previously had an official presence on the platform. According to the profile, the new account is jointly managed by Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation (XRPLF). "XRP– is the native token of the XRP Ledger (XRPL), a decentralized blockchain built for payments,"– the account description states. The profile also includes a disclaimer that its content is not investment advice. Although the account was launched just a few hours ago, it has already attracted 21,700 followers, following only 42 accounts, including notable figures like Vijay Khanna and Ripple Stablecoin Tracker.
With its debut, @XRP joins other major cryptocurrencies that already have dedicated accounts on the platform. The Bitcoin account @Bitcoin, which joined in August 2011, has millions of followers. Ethereum also has a dedicated account @ethereum, managed by the Ethereum Foundation, while Dogecoin has its account @dogecoin, which has existed since December 2013.
