CryptoQuant: 80% of transactions in Bitcoin now make up micro-transactions

CryptoQuant analysts have detected an explosive rise in micro-transactions on the Bitcoin network, with the share of transfers worth less than 0.01 BTC reaching 80% of total daily transactions, up from 44% in 2023. Although the total number of transactions is approaching historical highs, their real economic value remains disproportionately low.

The main reason for this trend by analysts is the record use of the code OP_RETURN, related to the popularity of interchangeable tokens based on Bitcoin, ordinals and data records services. This led to an overload of Bitcoin’s membrane, which has reached 128,000 operations - the highest level since February 2025. Experts warn that the sustained growth of such non-financial activity increases competition for a block seat and may lead to higher fees for ordinary economic transfers.
